Yemen’s most unusual feature is its remarkable architecture. Besides ornate styled mosques, palaces, villages and ancient mud brick skyscrapers, you'll find old style Arabic souqs (marketplaces). The Haraz Mountains or al-Mahwit are fabulous areas for trekking, while fishing and diving are very popular pastimes. The interesting architecture of the rock palace of the Imam and its fruit gardens and Sunday market makes a good day-trip. A fascinating country with a huge variety of vegetation, landscape, and culture.
