Images of stormy cyclones, floods and UN aid are what come to mind at the thought of Bangladesh. In reality though, archaeological sites, historic mosques and monuments, resorts, beaches, picnic spots, forest and wildlife abound Bangladesh. The cultural splendour of the country has not been undermined by years of climatic extremes and destitution. The lush greenery, beautiful beaches and the simple hospitality of the people will bowl you over. The famed 'Dhaka' muslin, other cottage industry products like pink pearls, wood products, coconut masks, folk dolls, horn products, terracotta toys and jute products are great buys. These are authentically Bangladeshi and very cheap. Language: EBengali (Bangla), some English.
