An island on the eastern side of Aegean Sea, Samos is the birthplace of Pythagoras. The monuments, sites and ecclesiastical architecture bear testimony to its historical past. Rugged cliffs, mountainous terrain and dense forests have left Samos’s interior villages virtually untouched. The beaches are outstanding and offer windsurfing and other watersports. Samos is also well known for its wine, Moschato, as well as delicious honey and olive oil.
